Waterbirth

Immersion in water for labor and birth has been around for over 200 years, and research proves its safety and efficacy for natural, undisturbed birth. Providing relaxation, pain relief, lower cesarean rates, lowered blood pressure, and a gentler welcome for baby, waterbirth is associated with a decreased need for intervention and pain medication as well as higher APGAR scores for newborns.

Homeborne is owned by Anita Woods, Certified Professional Midwife. As a woman who has given birth at home in water herself, Anita loves waterbirth! Midwives affectionately call it an "aquadural." It will not eliminate the pain the way an epidural can, but it just takes the edge off of the most intense part of labor at the end, so you can relax and do the work of labor and pushing out your baby underwater. Because the cord is still attached, baby is still being oxygenated through the umbilical cord even after birth. You can sit quietly in the warm water with your baby for as long as you like. Sometimes babies born in water are so calm, they don't even cry.

If you are the kind of person that loves to soak in a warm bath after a long day, waterbirth is for you! 😋 Plan your dreamy homebirth with a free consultation, or contact Homeborne.
